We are happy to announce we will now be offering piercing services to all ages!
As an industry, we've always tried to help educate the public on safe piercing practices, and help to encourage clients to go to safe establishments. Since most piercing studios start at 13 and up, this leaves the community without a safe place to have piercings performed with quality jewelry.
Many cultures practice early stage lobe piercing and other body modifications going back to the dawn of man. Excluding this option leaves the community without a safe alternative. Our recommended age preference is two months, following TDAP administering.Â
Many mall-piercing establishments have little to no training, leaving them without the proper knowledge of anatomy and aseptic practices, and zero quality control. These places do not carry quality jewelry and often lie to the public about the jewelry origin and material. They use words and phrases like "hypoallergenic," or "needle-based," as if this makes them a safe choice. It doesn't. Some establishments even use 'nurses,' who get minimal training and produce the same low quality piercings with low quality materials.Â
If the establishment is using guns/pressurized devices, and/or their staff are trained for less than six months, they are not a safe place.
Any studio carrying body jewelry of any kind should offer the clients to view Milling Test Certificates. These documents provide verification of the chemical and physical properties of the jewelry being used for the procedures. If your studio is refusing to provide these at request, they are being dishonest about the material being used. Each reputable jewelry brand is responsible for this testing and is available to the client upon request.
All jewelry carried by our studio is implant grade titanium, 14k and 18k. Implant grade titanium (ASTM-F138/Ti6Al4V ELI) is used in the medical implants, including pacemakers and artificial heart valves. It's biocompatible, light weight and resistant to wear and tear. The brands carried are Association of Professional Piercer Compliant.
That being said, these appointments will now be available to the community by appointment upon request. A consultation prior to the appointment is required, to go over the procedure, aftercare and potential complications.
Any additional questions, comments or concerns are welcome, as this is meant to provide a safe alternative. Many of us can speak to the terrifying experience of having had a gun piercing done as kids. To this day, I still get plenty of clients needing help with their piercing placement correction due to having been pierced by these alternative places. Each client we can deter from these experience is considered a win!
